Connect your ChatLab chatbot with your Shoper store to give customers real-time access to product information and order tracking directly in the chat.
Example conversation
Check an order
Requires a connected store and its enabled order action. Available fields depend on the integration. Matching an email address is not proof of identity.
Visitor: Where is my order?
Play the example or read it below. No real customer data is used. The customer asks about an existing order.
Playback pauses when this example leaves the screen. This is a simulation, not a live chat. Widget controls inside the playback are not interactive.Read the complete example
- The customer asks about an existing order.
Visitor: Where is my order?
- The default lookup needs both identifiers.
Assistant: Please give me your order number and the email address used at checkout.
- Use fictional data in this example.
Visitor: 41982, anna@example.com
- The action queries the connected store.
Checking order 41982...
- Report only information returned by the store.
Assistant: Order 41982 is marked as shipped. The carrier is DPD. Please check the tracking page for delivery updates.
The example illustrates the customer experience. The available actions and returned information depend on this integration and your configuration.
Important: E-Commerce Best Practices
After completing the integration below, read the comprehensive guide on optimizing your chatbot for e-commerce: How to set up ChatLab for your E-commerce store
What the Integration Provides
Product Search - Customers can search your Shoper catalog by entering a phrase. The chatbot searches across product names using fuzzy matching, returning up to 10 matching products with:
- Product name and description
- Price and SKU
- Direct link to the product page in your store
- Product image
- Stock status
- Optional: product attachments (PDFs, documents)
You can also enable the in-stock filter to only return products that are currently available.
Order Details - Customers can check their order status by providing an order ID and the email address associated with the order. Both values are validated against your Shoper store records. The chatbot returns:
- Order ID, date, and current status
- Order total and currency
- Ordered items with names, quantities, and prices
- Delivery address (street, city, postal code, country, phone)
- Billing address
- Order notes
Two Ways to Connect Your Store
There are two ways to connect Shoper to ChatLab:
- Method 1: ChatLab app from the Shoper App Store (recommended) - one-click installation. The app creates the connection, enables product search and order details, and adds the chat widget to your storefront. No API keys to copy.
- Method 2: Manual setup - you create a WebAPI administrator in Shoper and enter its credentials in ChatLab. Use it only when you cannot install the app, or when you want to connect the store to a chatbot you manage in a specific way.
Pick one method. Do not create a second connection with Method 2 if the app has already connected the store.
Method 1: Install the ChatLab App from the Shoper App Store
The free ChatLab app in the Shoper App Store is the fastest way to get started. You do not need an existing ChatLab account or chatbot - both are created for you during installation.
- In your Shoper admin, go to Add-ons and integrations > Applications, find ChatLab - AI Chatbot for Customer Support and Sales and install it
- Open the ChatLab app in your Shoper admin - the ChatLab panel opens in a new window
- Set your password (new account) or sign in with your existing ChatLab account
- If you started in the chatbot setup wizard, confirm connecting the store to that chatbot; otherwise a chatbot for the store is created on your account
- Pick a plan or stay on the free plan - you can upgrade later in Account > Subscription
That is all. The store is connected, the product search and order details actions are enabled, and the chatbot appears on your storefront as soon as the connection is made. Continue with Configure Shoper Actions below to review the actions, or open Deploy > Shoper in ChatLab to see the same installation steps again.
Method 2: Manual Setup
Use this method when you cannot install the app. Before you start, make sure:
- Your ChatLab subscription includes the Shoper integration
- You have access to your Shoper admin panel
- Your chatbot is already created in ChatLab
The manual setup connects store data only. The chat widget has to be added to your storefront separately, see Install Chatbot on Your Shoper Store at the end of this article.
Step 1: Create an Administrators Group
- In your Shoper admin panel, go to Settings > Store administrators
- Click MORE > Add administrators group
- Enter a name for the group (e.g., "ChatLab Integration"), select Access type: 'access to webapi' and save
Step 2: Configure Group Permissions
- Open the newly created group and go to the permissions settings
- Grant Read access to the following resources:
- Sales - read
- Catalog - read
- Configuration - read
Step 3: Add an API Administrator
- Go to Administrators and click Add administrator
- Fill in the login and password, and assign the administrator to the group created in Step 1
- Save the administrator. Note down the login and password - you will need them in the next step.
Step 4: Connect Shoper in ChatLab
- Log in to ChatLab and select your bot
- Go to the Connect tab
- Click Connect on the Shoper tile
- Enter your Shop URL (your Shoper domain, e.g.,
myshop.shoper.pl) - Enter your WebAPI Login (from Step 3)
- Enter your WebAPI Password (from Step 3)
- Click Initialize Configuration - this fetches available languages from your store
- Select the correct Shop Language from the dropdown (this determines which language version of product data is returned)
- Click Connect
ChatLab automatically tests the connection by performing a test product search. If successful, you will see a confirmation message and both product search and order details actions are enabled by default.
Configure Shoper Actions
After connecting with either method, you can enable and customize individual AI actions. Navigate to Settings > Actions and filter by the Shoper platform.
The standard actions include:
- Shoper - product search - enables the chatbot to search your product catalog
- Shoper - order details - enables the chatbot to look up order information
Connection setup enables the standard actions. Review their status and disable any you do not want customers to use. Open an action to edit it, then use Enable or Update in its dialog. You can also customize the action label (the message shown to users while the action runs) and the instructions that guide how the AI uses each action.
For product search, click the Edit button and go to the Product Search Settings tab. Two additional options are available:
- Include product attachments - when enabled, the chatbot includes product attachment files (PDFs, documents) in search results
- Products in stock only - when enabled, the chatbot only returns products that are currently in stock
AI Product Search and the Shop Tab
For semantic product matching, review AI product search in Settings > Actions. On supported bots, connection setup can enable AI search instead of keyword search and start catalog indexing when auto-indexing is enabled and the required access and capacity are available. Older bots may require manual training. Review Shop > Products or Training > E-commerce catalog, wait for training to finish, and check errors before testing. Keyword-search options do not necessarily apply to AI search.
Testing Your Integration
After activating the actions, open Overview and try:
- "Show me running shoes" (tests product search)
- "What's the status of my order 12345?" (tests order details; supply the matching email for an order you are authorized to access)
Verify that the responses match data from your Shoper store and that product links open correctly.
Install Chatbot on Your Shoper Store
If you used Method 1 (the app), the chat widget is already on your storefront and there is nothing to add. If you used Method 2 (manual setup), open Deploy > Shoper in ChatLab, switch to Manual Installation, copy the code and paste it in your Shoper admin under Add-ons and integrations > Custom integrations into the Page header field. See Adding chatbot to your website for details.
